Youth Film Competition

As part of my work with the United Nations (OHCHR), I created a short film competition for youth where they can use their voices to talk about issues that affect them and their communities. With two editions of the competition (2024 and 2025), outstanding short films were produced, tackling topics such as “the Right to Education”, “the Right to Work” and “the Right to an Adequate Standard of Living”. This competition proved to be a creative format to engage youths on topics which might be challenging to convey through traditional training and awareness formats.

My role:

  • Developing the concept, terms and conditions of the competition.

  • Outreach and visibility for the competition.

  • Delivering sessions to the young filmmakers on documentary filmmaking and integrating the core topics into their films.

  • Evaluation of the films (as part of a panel) and organizing screening events in UN Headquarters (Geneva), in universities in Doha and on Al Jazeera.
