Comic Book
As the Strategic Communications Lead on the USAID-funded project “Tunisia FIRST”, one of my tasks was to work with the Tunisia Ministry of Finance to enhance their communications department and enhance their outreach efforts- make their messages more accessible to various target audiences. One of those audiences were children- how can we raise their awareness on how the government generates revenue, allocates expenditures and manages public funds to provide public goods and services?
The solution: A Comic Book !
I pitched the idea to the client (USAID) and the Ministry and they loved it! They even got the Ministry of Education on board. The next step was coming up with the key messages, followed by creating a story and characters which would deliver these messages in an engaging, creative way. Once that was ready, I sub-contracted a design company and worked closely with them till the comic book was out. The Ministry of Finance endorsed it and the Ministry of Education distributed in schools across the country making it quite the success.
